Set Up Routine Tasks
Learn how to set up routines for recurring tasks and automatically generate tasks on a schedule. This is a Pro feature.
This article explains how to use the Routines feature to automatically generate recurring tasks. You can automatically create tasks on daily, weekly, or monthly schedules to help build habits.
This feature is available with the Pro plan. On the Free plan, you can set up to 2 active routines.
Open the Routine Management Panel
- Click “Routines” in the sidebar.
- The Routine management panel will open.
The panel displays a list of routines on the left and an editing area on the right.
Create a New Routine
- Click the “New Routine” button in the Routine management panel.
- An input form appears in the editing area on the right.
- Configure the following items.
Basic Information:
- Task Name: The title of tasks generated from this routine
- Description: Detailed description of the task (markdown supported)
- Tags: Specify multiple tags separated by commas
Schedule:
- Daily: Generate a task every day
- Weekly: Generate a task on specified days of the week
- Monthly: Generate a task on a specified date
- Click “Save Routine”.
How to Set the Schedule
Daily
- Select “Daily” as the schedule type.
- No additional configuration is needed.
Weekly
- Select “Weekly” as the schedule type.
- Click the days of the week when you want tasks to be generated.
- You can select multiple days.
Example: Generate an exercise task on Mon, Wed, and Fri
Monthly
- Select “Monthly” as the schedule type.
- Enter the date (1–31) for task generation.
Example: Generate a monthly review on the 1st of every month
Edit a Routine
- Click the routine you want to edit in the routine list.
- Details appear on the right side.
- Make your changes.
- Click “Save Routine”.
Changes take effect starting from the next generated task.
Enable/Disable a Routine
- Click the toggle switch for the target routine in the routine list.
- When disabled, tasks will no longer be generated from that routine.
Disabling a routine does not remove tasks that have already been generated.
Delete a Routine
- In the routine list, select the routine you want to delete and click the “Delete Routine” button.
- A confirmation dialog will appear.
- Click “Delete”.
Deleting a routine does not remove already generated tasks (they will be unlinked from the routine).
Create a Routine from a Task
You can also create a routine based on an existing task.
- Open the task detail screen.
- Click the “Routine” button.
- The routine settings dialog opens.
- Configure the schedule.
- Click “Save”.
When Routine Tasks Are Generated
How tasks are automatically generated from routines:
- Mark the current routine instance (task) as completed.
- The next routine task is automatically generated.
- Only one incomplete instance exists at a time.
If there is no upcoming task, “No upcoming task” is displayed in the Routine management panel.
Manually Create the Next Task
If a routine has no incomplete tasks, you can manually create the next one.
- Select the routine in the Routine management panel.
- If “No upcoming routine task exists” is displayed:
- Click “Create Next Routine Task”.
Free Plan Limitations
On the Free plan, active routines are limited to 2.
- If you try to enable a 3rd routine, a prompt to upgrade to the Pro plan will appear.
- Disabled routines do not count toward the limit.
- On the Pro plan, you can create and enable unlimited routines.
