Use Sleep to Temporarily Hide Tasks
Learn how to use the Sleep feature to temporarily hide tasks you don't need to work on right now and automatically bring them back at a specified time.
This article explains how to use the Sleep feature to temporarily hide tasks. When you set Sleep on a task you don’t need to work on right now, it disappears from your task list and automatically reappears at the specified date and time.
Set Sleep on a Task
- Display the task you want to put to sleep in the task list or task detail screen.
- Click the moon icon (🌙).
- Select a Sleep duration.
Sleep Duration Options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Tomorrow | Returns at the start time of the next day |
| In 1 Week | Returns at the start time 7 days later |
| In 1 Month | Returns at the start time 1 month later |
| Someday | Indefinite Sleep (hidden until manually cleared) |
| Pick a Date | Choose any date from the calendar |
- Once selected, Sleep is set on the task and it disappears from the list.
View Sleeping Tasks
You can view sleeping tasks from the sidebar.
- Click “Sleeping” in the sidebar.
- A list of sleeping tasks appears in a popover.
- Each task shows its scheduled return date.
The number of sleeping tasks is displayed next to “Sleeping”.
Remove Sleep
How to manually wake up a sleeping task:
From the Sidebar
- Click “Sleeping” in the sidebar.
- Click the moon icon (🌙) on the task you want to wake.
- Select “Clear” (remove Sleep).
From Task Details
- Click a task from the sleeping tasks list to open its details.
- Click the moon icon (🌙).
- Select “Clear” (remove Sleep).
Change the Sleep Duration
- Find the task in the sleeping tasks list.
- Click the moon icon (🌙).
- Select a new Sleep duration.
The duration will be overwritten with the new selection.
What Happens When Sleep Ends
Tasks automatically return when their Sleep period ends.
- Returned tasks reappear in the task list.
- A toast notification appears on screen.
- Example: “3 tasks have returned”
- The toast can be dismissed with the ✕ button.
About “Someday”
Selecting “Someday” puts the task into indefinite Sleep.
- No return date is set.
- The task remains hidden until you manually remove Sleep.
- Ideal for tasks you want to get to eventually but don’t want to think about right now.
Filters and Sleep
You can specify Sleep as a filter condition.

| None | Only non-sleeping tasks |
By default, only non-sleeping tasks are displayed.
Sleep Status Indicators
You can check whether a task is sleeping in the following ways.
Task Details:
- “Sleeping” or “Someday” is displayed next to the moon icon
Sidebar:
- The “Sleeping” section shows the count of sleeping tasks
Task List:
- Sleeping tasks are hidden from normal filters
Integration with Automation
You can combine the Sleep feature with Automation to automatically set Sleep on tasks matching specific conditions.
Example: Sleep Tasks with a Specific Tag Until Next Week
- Create a new rule in the Automation panel.
- Filter: Tag = includes “On Hold”
- Action: Set Sleep = “Next Week”
- Save and run the rule.
