Stay Focused with Focus Mode

Learn how to use Focus Mode to concentrate on in-progress tasks while keeping track of your working time.

This article explains how to use Focus Mode. Focus Mode is a compact window that displays only your in-progress tasks, allowing you to stay focused on your work while keeping an eye on the timer.

Open Focus Mode

From Keyboard Shortcut

Press the M key while kakiko is active. The Focus Mode window will appear at the bottom right of the screen.

From the Command Palette

  1. Open the Command Palette — a feature that lets you quickly search and execute tasks and commands from the keyboard — with Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows).
  2. Type “Focus Mode”.
  3. Select it from the search results and execute.

From the Task List

  1. Display your in-progress tasks.
  2. Click the Focus Mode button on the right side of a task.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The following shortcuts are available within Focus Mode.

All shortcuts work regardless of where the focus is.

View Task Details

  1. Click the info button (ℹ) on a task card, or press the I key.
  2. The task description is displayed in markdown format.
  3. The panel is scrollable.
  4. Use the copy button to copy the description to the clipboard.
  5. Press I again or click to close.

Return to Full View

  1. Press the M key or Enter key.
  2. Or click the Return to full view button (↗) in the header.

Focus Mode will close and the main window will be displayed.

Focus Mode Settings

You can customize Focus Mode behavior from the settings screen.

  1. Open the settings screen from the main window.
  2. Find the “Focus Mode” section.

Settings:

  • Enable/Disable: Turn Focus Mode on or off
  • Always on Top: Keep Focus Mode always displayed in front of other windows

Display Conditions

Only tasks with a status of “In Progress” are shown in Focus Mode.

  • Tasks with “Not Started”, “Paused”, or “Completed” status are not displayed.
  • If there are no in-progress tasks, Focus Mode will close automatically.
